Well, to begin with, a teacher may be a certified Tetris pro and a student will lose miserably anyway. Next, a math teacher is not happy to see Tetris placed over the beloved charts and graphs. Can it be that the instructor wanted to see some other kind of drawing placed over that system of axes but what?? Next time it seems a clever idea to draw Tetris in a History notebook and safely hand it in to the teacher of math. But then a History teacher will be offended. Poor Tetris, they shoo you away in this harsh school reality. Sexism is bad, in math or not in math.
Metoo movement should have taught this guy something. But obviously it did not. This pun takes a completely new turn if a teacher is also a woman. Then we can only feel awe for such a double epic fail. We hope that in math this student will make more progress than he has made in respecting women so far. Wishing him to show sharper wits next time, anyway. When you are in trouble, trust in God. It seems that the teacher does not share the same views, though. Somehow trust in God did not amount to a correct math solution. These kinds of mathematical proofs came out of fashion at some point in the Middle Ages. Maybe instead of bothering the Lord with such petty concerns a student should have paid attention to trigonometry.
Because, as it goes, God helps him who helps himself. Leonardo da Vinci would have appreciated this nice little puzzle. We hope that a teacher appreciated it, too. Technically, it is surely correct, because lines do connect parts of question appropriately. If a teacher cannot see proper question parts matching at once, how come a student is asked these highly entangled questions? It is just neither fair nor pedagogically OK. Machine-made or not machine-made, all problems seem to be solved correctly by this student. So maybe he or she is the one to invented this wonderful math machine that will solve the most intimidating math problems in no time at all. This is only a preliminary sketch of it, but it already works because it spits out a correct answer. Even the teacher appreciates this cool contraption!
All hail to the smart inventor! We at 5homework could find a corner for one or two in the house. Rejoice, everyone, a new Agatha Christie is born! Or is it James Patterson? Eh, who cares… Here we see the rise of a new king or queen of detective plot and suspense! Well, judging from the reaction, this teacher is not very good at solving crimes. Wishing them good luck the next time. Students should type up their questions and make one copy for each person they intend to interview. Ten is usually a good number. As a class, discuss how students might introduce themselves to a person they encounter and would like to interview. You can write out an introduction based on your discussion and have students practice it with each other in class.
Then send students out to their interviews. Rather than having their interviewees write answers on the survey, students should ask their questions and then write down the responses they get. Music can do anything from relax us to invigorate us to help us fall in love. Music is good for English learners, too, since it stresses many aspects of language that can otherwise be hard to isolate. Have you played the game Apples to Apples? If you have, you know part of the fun is in just how subjective the game is.
And sending students on a photo scavenger hunt can encompass the same type of fun. Give individual students or groups of up to three students a list of items to find on their scavenger hunt. But instead of being specific in your list for example, including items such as cat , be descriptive in your list. You might include items such as something frightening, something beautiful, something quiet, etc. Students find items they think fit the description. For example, someone who is claustrophobic might choose an elevator for something frightening. They then take a picture of it. The next day, have each person get with a partner and show them the pictures they took for each item on the list.
If the connection is not obvious, students should ask their partner to explain why they chose a particular item, such as the elevator. As long as students can explain the connections between their pictures and the scavenger hunt items, they score a point for each one. If a student thinks an item is too much of a stretch, have another pair of students cast votes and go with two out of three opinions. Using an imaginative concept — Create an imaginative world; say a world in which humans are caged and hunted and lions live in homes. Let their creativity soar. Asking students to expand one word into a story — You can place attributes such as honesty, diligence, duplicity; et al.
Asking them to write five examples of figures of speech — Alliteration, simile, metaphor; assonance. Use easy figures of speech within the capacities of a high school student and let them examine their stretch. Ask them to write an allegory — Ask them to create a story during their homework, where characters actually convey the essence of a different expression altogether. Sounds complicated; go through Alice in Wonderland. Ask them to write nursery rhymes — Nursery rhymes may sound simple and uncomplicated, but it actually takes a lot of labor to compose them in a delightful manner. Twinkle Twinkle Little Star still has a fresh sound to it. Ask the kids to be more inventive.
After a long day of school — whether virtual or in-person — the idea of homework can drain the life out of both parents and children but mostly parents, obviously. Kids will be kids though, so even in something as mundane as homework, children somehow find a way to make us laugh uncontrollably.
