Home Style and Grammar Guidelines References Examples Published Dissertation or Thesis All the patients included were subjected to detailed history taking. BMI matched in cases and controls. Blood sample were taken from both cases and control ant sent for Vitamin-D level, HbA1c, Fasting blood glucose and 2hrs postprandial glucose test. Results: In this study an attempt has been made to assess the association of maternal serum vitamin D with Gestational diabetes mellitus and also to see its relation with glycemic control in patients with GDM.
The mean maternal serum vitamin D levels were 8. The difference was statistically significant reflecting that the mean serum vitamin D was decreased in women with GDM. The correlation coefficient r between HbA1c levels and Vitamin D level was Conclusions: Low maternal serum vitamin d levels were associated with gestational diabetes mellitus. There is a statistically significant negative correlation between the glycemic control and vitamin D levels in serum in the whole study population. The effect of adequate vitamin D replacement on glycemic control was not studied in our work correlation. We suggest larger scale studies addressing this issue. IJAR Indexing. Background: Vitamin D is part of many physiological functions in the body.
This is enough reason to optimise vitamin D level in the body. Studies have linked vitamin D deficiency to the development of Gestational Diabetes Mellitus GDM. We aimed to compare Vitamin D levels in GDM and Non GDM pregnant women at King Abdulaziz University Hospital Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted at Obstetrics and Gynaecology outpatient clinic and inpatient obstetrics ward at King Abdulaziz University hospital, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia from January to April All the 92 female patients were distributed into four quartiles depending on vitamin D level. The mean age in the GDM group was The mean score of BMI in GDM group was Conclusion: We found no statistical difference between the GDM and Non GDM groups as regards Vitamin D.
Subjects with higher BMI and higher age had significantly higher incidence of GDM. Shanthi Sivaprakasam. Shanthi Sivaprakasam , S. Usha Rani. Objective: To find the association between Vitamin D deficiency and GDM. Methods: Prospective study included 50 women with GDM and 50 normoglycemic pregnant women. Serum Vitamin D level was estimated and correlation between low Vitamin D level and GDM was analysed statistically. Vitamin D was not significantly decreased in GDM group. Parity, bad obstetric history and weight of baby were comparable in both groups. Conclusion: High prevalence of Vitamin D deficiency in pregnancy is not associated with the risk of GDM. Further trials are needed to document Vitamin D deficiency as risk factor for the occurrence of GDM.
Rosa Corcoy , Mnm Van Poppel , Judith Jelsma , Andre Van Assche , Alessandra Bertolotto. IP Innovative Publication Pvt. Introduction: Diabetes mellitus in pregnancy is one of the major complications during pregnancy. Pregnancies with gestational diabetes mellitus are associated with distinct spectrum of adverse maternal and perinatal outcomes such as birth injury, fetal growth abnormalities, increased rates of Caesarean section, and long-term risk for both the mother and baby. Numerous screening procedures and diagnostic guidelines have been used based on the suitability of test to the individual and population characteristics, cost of test and screening accuracy. Still debate exists on the most suitable test for screening of GDM as different diagnostic criterias followed in different countries.
Hence Universal screening tool for GDM is necessary, which is economical, suitable and feasible especially in Indians, who are at higher risk of developing GDM. Current evidence suggests mainly two tests; Oral glucose challenge test OGCT and glycosylated hemoglobin HbA1C for diagnostication and prognostication of GDM. Of this, OGCT, WHO recommended, is a simple and cost-effective screening tool. Materials and Methods: It is a prospective study conducted at Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences, B. Nagar, Mandya. Conclusion: According to available evidence, overall diagnostic efficiency of OGCT is superior to HbA1C and fructosamine throughout a broad range of clinical settings.
OGCT is a patient friendly test, as it is performed regardless of the timing of last meal, causing minimum interference in the routine activities of the mother. An early diagnosis of diabetes and strict glucose control are crucial for preventing or delaying the onset of serious, life-threatening complications. Although OGCT, HbA1C remains the standard for diagnosing diabetes and glycemic monitoring emerging evidence attests that additional biomarkers such as fructosamine. Burgundy QF. Giampiero Capobianco , Pierina Muro , Antonio Lepedda. Norlaila Mustafa. Ramadan fasting for pregnant women with diabetes remains controversial and underreported. The objective of this study was to determine the glycemic control in pregnant diabetic women on insulin who fasted during Ramadan.
This was a retrospective study carried out over a period of three years including pregnant diabetic women, who were on short-acting, intermediate-acting, or a combination of them, and opted to carry out Ramadan fasting. Glycemic control was assessed before, middle and after Ramadan fasting. Thirty seven women opted to fast with 24 The age of the participants was The median number of days fasted was 25 days, and most of the women were able to fast for more than 15 days. Secondary education is increasingly becoming an area of focus in developing countries, which have till now concentrated on achieving universal elementary education. Secondary Education acts as a bridge between primary and higher education.
After success of universalisation of elementary education, India has eventually focused on quality, equity and Universalization of secondary education. This book provides an insight into quality issues in Secondary schools of India. The author also had a question in mind when talking about quality assurance, what is the role of Government in assuring Quality in school education? The Government is planning and executing so many policies and programs to assure quality in Education. But is it implemented properly? Does it reach to the grassroot level?
Is quality really assured in Secondary schools and how one can measure the quality of education; and the ways to improve quality? The Government has an important role to play in this whole process of Quality Assurance. One of the authors from her school days had a mistery about school inspection, conducted by the Government Officials. It had been observed as a student in the school that school inspection was a process of a day. This made the author curious to research about the practices of Quality Assurance in Secondary school. This book is the outcome of PhD research on Quality Assurance in secondary schools of India. It provides useful insights into quality issues in secondary education in India and addresses the important questions of why there is need to improve the quality of education.
It provides interesting insights into the identification of factors determining quality outcomes. It also throws light on the practices of Quality Assurance in some of the neighbouring countries and European countries as to understand the difference between the procedures of different Governments for Quality Assurance. The authors have tried to identify the issues and challenges in assuring quality education in secondary schools of India. Most of the times it has been found that school inspection becomes a mechanical process and it has not been taken care of properly by the Government Officials.
As well the findings of the study also discusses about the challenges of school supervisors, teachers, principals, school principals and many others faced during school inspection. The author would thank Prof. Pushpanadham without whom the journey was impossible. I am grateful to my dear Father, my husband, my son and all family members for always motivating, inspiring and supporting me. The book is divided into six chapters, whereby the authors have introduced the topic in chapter one, chapter two deals with determinants of quality in education, the next chapter focuses on the school inspection and supervision. The authors have detailed the process and policies related to inspection. In chapter four the authors have identified research trends and gaps, the last chapter concludes with the recommendations for change in school inspection system as well as for further researches.

The study, which is quantitative in nature, used survey research design. A total of teachers participated in the study. Cluster sampling and random sampling techniques were used in the study. Descriptive statistics analysis was used for the analysis of the responses through SPSS version The study found that the monetary reward, in terms of salary, allowances and monetary benefit, forteachers inpublic secondary schoolsin Kano State is poor.
In addition, the study found that teachers in Kano State cannot afford for their basic needs. muhammad bello jakada , Tesfaye Boru Lelissa PHD, FCCA, CERM. Introduction No organization operates in a vacuum, hence the need for individuals to perform for the organization to function. Employee performance is very vital for the survival of an organization and is largely influenced by the reward in place. When an employee does what is prescribed in the job description, job is performed. Armstrong argues that one of the most important, if not the most important, of the responsibilities undertaken by managers of organizations is to ensure that the members of their entities achieve high levels of performance. These arguments justify the fact that performance of an organization is a reflection of the performance of employees and that the better the employees perform, the better the organization perform and vice versa.
Therefore, there is the need for both government and private organizations to employ appropriate reward mechanism for compensating employees' contributions and ginger them towards higher performance. Monetary reward is a financial measure of influencing individual's drive to act towards desired direction. Monetary rewards comprise of rewards that have a monetary value and add up to total remuneration such as base pay, pay contingent on performance, contribution, competency or skill, pay related to service, financial recognition schemes, and benefits such as pensions, sick pay and health insurance Armstrong, The importance of monetary reward cannot be over emphasized. Guajardo found that monetary rewards are the strongest incentive in Africa, especially salary increase or performance based rewards.
Armstrong argues that monetary rewards are the core element in total reward. Also, a study conducted by Narsee in South Africa found that monetary reward is the most important reward category. These findings cannot be far from the fact that people work so that they can satisfy their economic needs and wants from the reward they get. Therefore, a good monetary reward package attracts not only competent workers and retain them, but also determine their commitments and attitudes towards work: and Kano State teachers may not be an exception. When we lose the opportunity to educate the most capable students, we diminish not only their individual opportunities, but also those of the country. muhammad bello jakada. This is a conceptual study that intends to examine the relationship between monetary reward and teachers' performance in Some Selected Kano State public secondary schools. Secondary schools are the bridge between primary education and higher institutions in Nigeria. The need for students to acquire more knowledge and skills beyond primary level in Nigeria has become imperative and hence the need for secondary school education. Therefore, teachers performance is of utmost concern since improvement of teachers' performance can lead to effective performance of students and the education sector at large.
The study is going to be quantitative and will adopt survey research design. Cluster sampling technique will be used to obtain responses from the sample of teachers. Regression analysis will be used for Data analysis through SPSS version Job performance is carrying out an activity expected from an employee largely influenced by the reward in place. When an employee does what is prescribed as the content of his job, he performed. Armstrong argued that one of the most important, if not the most important, of the responsibilities undertaken by managers of organisations is to ensure that members of their entities achieve high levels of performance.
